The play follows Dr. Jason Smith, a counselor who spends his days helping others confront addiction, trauma, broken relationships, guilt, and personal struggles. But behind his professional appearance is a man carrying a painful past of his own. As the emotional weight of his patients begins to collide with his unresolved grief, Dr. Smith finds himself fighting a battle far greater than anyone around him realizes.
Through the characters Good and Bad, the audience is given a dramatic look inside Dr. Smith’s internal struggle as hope and despair compete for control.
Filled with emotion, suspense, humor, powerful revelations, and unexpected twists, The Counselor explores mental health, addiction, grief, faith, forgiveness, and the importance of recognizing that even the strongest among us can struggle in silence.
